David and Andrea’s wedding at Kentisbeare Church Near Tiverton.

Back in September I was at Kentisbeare Church for David and Andrea’s wedding near Tiverton. We got there nice and early to capture the preparations with Eve Ashby Makeup.

David and Andrea were a wonderful couple to work with and I really enjoyed photographing their wedding. The reception was held on Andrea’s parents farm in a marquee. Andrea had metres of handmade bunting to decorate the interior of the marquee which looked fabulous. They possibly had the most relaxed catering team I think I have ever seen at a wedding, perfectly executed food and all the guests had a fantastic time. The weather was also kind to them, although I believe there were tractors on standby to rescue any stuck cars!

Hartnoll Hotel Wedding

Hartnoll Hotel Wedding,

I just wanted to share with you Louise and Angelos’ Hartnoll Hotel wedding. The wedding took place back in July this year, on what I am sure was the hottest day of the year. I was first contacted by Louise way back in April 2011. She had emailed me explaining that they were living in Morocco, but wanted to come back to Devon to get married. I didn’t get to meet them until the day before the wedding for some final planning. This was also my first visit to Hartnoll Hotel. After chatting for a while we realized that we used to live about half a mile away from each other back in Manchester, one of those funny coincidences.

Hartnoll Hotel is a lovely boutique hotel, a perfect wedding venue. The staff are always incredibly friendly and professional. I can personally vouch for the food it was excellent, my assistant and I had the conservatory area to ourselves while we enjoyed the awesome roast beef.

All of Angelos’ family and friends had travelled to Devon for the wedding and the hotel was fully booked out. It was the first time that a lot of them had been to Devon and they all seemed to have fallen in love with the area.

Louise’s mum had handmade the wedding favours, delicious homemade Devon fudge in a range of flavours. But, most importantly for Louise, the chocolate wedding cake as chocolate is the one thing she misses about England! Because apparently you can’t get Cadbury’s dairy milk chocolate in Morocco.

Newton Abbot Wedding

Elizabeth and Nick’s Newton Abbot Wedding.

This Newton Abbot Wedding is the second part out of three for Elizabeth and Nick’s wedding adventure, which has been a truly international event.

Nick is originally from Newton Abbot and Elizabeth lives in Los Angeles where they met. This was far from a traditional marriage. For the first part of the wedding they eloped to the beautiful Yosemite National Park where they married in a small open air service surrounded by the amazing back drop of the mountains.

Because both families and friends are spread across the UK and the USA, they decided to fly back to the UK to have a wedding service in Nick’s home town. The theme would be a traditional English garden party held at Nick’s parents. So, we arranged all the photography via email and phone calls and it wasn’t until the day before the ceremony that I met them in person. That evening I had a text to say that the garden party had been cancelled as the gazebos had been bent beyond use in the high winds. Fortunately the local Combeinteignhead pub, the Wild Goose stepped in and saved the day, holding the evening celebrations in their restaurant.

The ceremony was beautiful, with an opera singer whose voice was simply stunning.  After the ceremony we took a quick drive out to Labrador Point for couple’s portraits by the sea. Elizabeth wanted to be able to show everybody back home the beauty of the South Devon landscape.

We had planned to head out again if there was a sunset but it was not to be the case. However,  I had an idea I’d wanted to try out for some time – to get the first dance shots in a band stand. So without telling them where I was taking them, we jumped in the car for a trip into Newton Abbot, Courtney Park and the old band stand.

Elizabeth and Nick were a great couple to work with and I really enjoyed being their wedding photographer. So please make sure you look to the bottom of the post to see my pick of the pictures.

I know that they are having a big party back in Los Angeles for all the US friends and family. I hope you had a fantastic time.

Muddifords Court Country House Engagement Shoot.

Muddifords Court Country House Engagement Shoot.

I recently met up at Muddifords Court Country House for an engagement shoot with Aimee and Adam. Muddifords court country house is a new wedding venue and is already proving very popular with Devon brides. We first met after they found me via the website and loved my style of wedding photography.

We will be back in August for their wedding. I am very much looking forward to sharing some of their wedding images as we’ve planned some great shots. The photo booth will also be in action and I’m looking forward to see the images as it’s always great fun. The guests will be able to see them and download a copy from the facebook business page. So head over to the facebook business page in advance and hit the like button. So this way you will be able to see them first and tag yourself, share with friends. We’ve already planned to use the projector to show the photo booth images during the evening reception and Aimee is planning a set of customised props.

The engagement shoots are fun, relaxed and help things flow on the wedding day, as you have done it all before. We’ll have a chat, talk about you, your wedding, go for a coffee, take a few shots in the types of poses we will use on the wedding day and get some beautiful lasting photographs.

I’ve included some of my favourite images from the engagement shoot. It was good fun even the chickens enjoyed it, well trying to peck Aimee’s feet.

Muddifords Court

Muddifords court,

Muddifords court which is located near Willand Devon, is a very new and exciting wedding venue only having had their wedding ceremony licence since November 2011. It is proving very popular with Devon brides and I had the pleasure of meeting the owners Pip and Nicky Easby at the weekend, while visiting the venue with one of my wedding couples. The house has been completely transformed. It is a beautiful and intimate venue with one of the most tasteful renovations I have seen for a very long time. But it is very much a home, with the two dogs following me around most of the time. The garden and grounds have also under-gone a complete transformation. With this attention to detail it will soon become one of Devon’s most popular wedding venues. Don’t just take my word for it, have a look at the images below and give them a call, I am sure Pip and Nicky would love to show you around. You will no dought be as impressed as I have been.

I loved the pond and boat house and spent some time with my wedding couple taking images for their engagement shoot. The ceremony room is “The cider Barn”. This still contains the old cider press which has been transformed into a feature with a lovely wood burning stove for those winter weddings.
