Nicola and Andy’s wedding at Boringdon Hall

Nicola and Andy’s wedding at Boringdon Hall.

This was my second wedding of the May bank holiday weekend which is proving the most popular weekend of the year to get married for the last three years.

Boringdon Hall has recently gone through a massive programme of refurbishment, the old car park is gone as is the marquee. The car park has been replaced with a beautiful lawn stretching out in front of the building. The interior seems to be constantly changing and updating.

Anyway back to Nicola and Andy’s wedding. It was held outside in the Gazebo in the glorious sunshine, followed by drinks on the lawn.

We spent a little time in the grounds getting a few group shots and then a little time away from the wedding guests capturing a few bride and groom portraits. Before heading back to enjoy the wedding breakfast.

Nicola and Andy told be to expect something a little different during the first dance but you’ll have to watch the video slide show until the end.

Take care and I can’t wait to hear about the honeymoon.

James

Dave and Leah’s wedding Photobooth

Dave and Leah’s wedding Photobooth

Yesterday I was capturing David and Leah’s wedding and as part of that we also ran the photo booth for the evening entertainment. My assistant (Eydth) and I had a great time at the wedding and we managed to get some fantastic images. The weather was super hot and sunny. Normally I’m shooting weddings all over Devon and Cornwall. I haven’t had a local wedding for quite some time. So it was really nice to shoot one only a few miles from home. We even went into a reed bed to get some images as the sun started to fade on the beautiful teign estuary.

But that’ll be a subject of another blog post. Which I must get round to catching up with as I’ve got quite a few weddings to share for inspiration.

David and Leah had also booked the fabulous “Loose Cannons” band to play. They were great as usual!

All the rest are on the  facebook “Red Chilli Photography” page. So head over and like the business page and see if you can find your images from the wedding photo booth.

Mike and Tina’s Wedding Bovey Tracey

Mike and Tina’s Wedding Bovey Tracey

Mike and Tina’s Wedding Bovey Tracey.

When Mike and Tina got into contact to find out if I was available to cover their wedding in Bovey Tracey, they came over to my home to meet me and look through albums.  We chatted about the wedding, and got on well. I knew we’d have fun on the wedding day.

Mike and Tina wanted a small low key and personal wedding at Tina’s parent’s house in Bovey Tracey.  They were getting married in the local church, which we walked to. Then home to the marquee in the garden for the reception and evening entertainments. They only invited a small group of family members, no speeches, just good food, good friends and dancing. It sounded pretty good to me. icon smile Mike and Tinas Wedding Bovey Tracey

Mike was concerned his best man wouldn’t get back from work that morning, if the traffic was a problem. But he made it with loads of time to spare.

It was also my son’s first day at school, so I didn’t want to miss taking him to see his friends. Fortunately the wedding was only at Bovey Tracey, about 20 minutes away from home. The girls weren’t going to start getting ready until about 10:00, so I had arranged with Tina to come straight there after seeing my son into school. When I got there one of the first questions Tina asked was how he had got on and I showed her a few of the images on the back of the camera of him in his school uniform. So it was a big day for everybody!

I know I’m there to shoot the wedding, but they were so welcoming it makes you feel like you are part of the family. Tina got ready in her childhood bedroom in the house where she grew up, full of family memories, and old childhood photographs. Mike and Tina had been together for a number of years before deciding to getting married.  They couldn’t wait to get away on honeymoon over to Egypt and they have told me they had a fantastic time when we spoke after they got back.

It was a pleasure to capture your story. icon smile Mike and Tinas Wedding Bovey Tracey

Take care,

James

David and Andrea’s wedding at Kentisbeare Church Near Tiverton.

Back in September I was at Kentisbeare Church for David and Andrea’s wedding near Tiverton. We got there nice and early to capture the preparations with Eve Ashby Makeup.

David and Andrea were a wonderful couple to work with and I really enjoyed photographing their wedding. The reception was held on Andrea’s parents farm in a marquee. Andrea had metres of handmade bunting to decorate the interior of the marquee which looked fabulous. They possibly had the most relaxed catering team I think I have ever seen at a wedding, perfectly executed food and all the guests had a fantastic time. The weather was also kind to them, although I believe there were tractors on standby to rescue any stuck cars!

I liked the bit about strictly come dancing in the speech Please watch the video below and hear for yourself.

Thank you for letting me be part of your wedding day.  Please have a look through a small selection of the images below and feel free to leave a comment. Enjoy. If you are planning a wedding in Tiverton, Please get in Contact as soon as possible as I only have limited availability for 2013.

woolacombe bay hotel

Woolacombe bay hotel.

Woolacombe Bay Hotel is situated right in the centre of Woolacombe on the North Devon coast with stunning views onto the beach and sea.  Set in 6 acres of private gardens it makes the perfect back drop for your wedding photography, but if you’re feeling a little more adventurous the beach is a short walk away. Where we will be able to spend a little time together capturing a few moments together as husband and wife away from your guests.

I was at the hotel back in July. Which I’ll blog later on this week. The hotel is beautifully maintained dating back to 1800’s with an understated elegance. They have the facilities to provide a beautiful small intimate wedding through to the largest of weddings.

The food is outstanding and created with the finest local produce.  The events team at the hotel are experienced and incredibly efficient making sure your wedding will follow perfectly.

It really is situated in a stunning coastal location in North Devon. I would recommend woolacombe not only as a wedding venue, but it’s well worth a visit with the family.

Hartnoll Hotel Wedding

Hartnoll Hotel Wedding,

I just wanted to share with you Louise and Angelos’ Hartnoll Hotel wedding. The wedding took place back in July this year, on what I am sure was the hottest day of the year. I was first contacted by Louise way back in April 2011. She had emailed me explaining that they were living in Morocco, but wanted to come back to Devon to get married. I didn’t get to meet them until the day before the wedding for some final planning. This was also my first visit to Hartnoll Hotel. After chatting for a while we realized that we used to live about half a mile away from each other back in Manchester, one of those funny coincidences.

Hartnoll Hotel is a lovely boutique hotel, a perfect wedding venue. The staff are always incredibly friendly and professional. I can personally vouch for the food it was excellent, my assistant and I had the conservatory area to ourselves while we enjoyed the awesome roast beef.

All of Angelos’ family and friends had travelled to Devon for the wedding and the hotel was fully booked out. It was the first time that a lot of them had been to Devon and they all seemed to have fallen in love with the area.

Louise’s mum had handmade the wedding favours, delicious homemade Devon fudge in a range of flavours. But, most importantly for Louise, the chocolate wedding cake as chocolate is the one thing she misses about England! Because apparently you can’t get Cadbury’s dairy milk chocolate in Morocco.

As usual please have a look through a small selection of the images from Louise and Angelos’ Hartnoll Hotel wedding and please leave a comment. If you are planning to hold your wedding at Hartnoll Hotel please get in contact to discuss availability. Feel free to share on facebook, tweet or Pin.

the grand hotel torquay wedding

The Grand Hotel Torquay wedding of Ellen and Matt.

July saw me at the Grand Hotel in Torquay with Ellen and Matt, who you may remember from their engagement shoot earlier in the year. For the engagement shoot in February we had glorious weather, but for the Grand Hotel Torquay wedding it was a little less kind. At one point, while having lunch, the RNLI helicopter was in the bay as the sea fog came in. But, it didn’t matter a bit as eventually the weather cleared and we had chance to get out on the beach after the meal. The Grand Hotel is a brilliant venue and the organisation was fantastic from start to finish. I would recommend them to anyone.

When we arrived first thing in the morning the hotel room was full to bursting with hair and makeup people. Not to mention Ellen’s friends who popped in to say hello and wish her well. Personally, I think they were coming for a sneaky peek of the wedding dress – you know who you are!!

The morning absolutely flew by and before we knew it, it was time for the ceremony and the room was filled with emotion.

The evening was a great party. We also supplied a photo booth for the evenings entertainments, along with a chocolate fountain from serenity of Newton Abbot. Have a look at the photo booth images from the evening to see for yourself, the guests really enjoyed and made the most of the photobooth as the images show

I’ve also included some shots of their album as I don’t normally get chance to take any pictures before the brides and grooms come to collect them. I use Jorgensen of Australia for my matted albums. They are just stunning and the options are endless.

Ellen and Matt were a great couple to work with and I really enjoyed their wedding, wishing you all the luck in the world.

Yesterday I was at the beautiful Muddifords Court Country House for Adam and Aimee’s wedding. I first photgraphed them back in April at their engagement shoot at Muddifords court. It really is a wonderful devon wedding venue and I was rewally looking forward to shooting there again. I’ll of course do a new blog post for the wedding pictures once Adam and Aimee have seen them, but first here is a small selection from last night’s wedding photo booth.
