Nicola and Andy’s wedding at Boringdon Hall

Nicola and Andy's wedding at Boringdon Hall.

This was my second wedding of the May bank holiday weekend which is proving the most popular weekend of the year to get married for the last three years. Boringdon Hall has recently gone through a massive programme of refurbishment, the old car park is gone as is the marquee. The car park has been replaced with a beautiful lawn stretching out in front of the building. The interior seems to be constantly changing and updating. Anyway back to Nicola and Andy's wedding. It was held outside in the Gazebo in the glorious sunshine, followed by drinks on the lawn. We spent a little time in the grounds getting a few group shots and then a little time away from the wedding guests capturing a few bride and groom portraits. Before heading back to enjoy the wedding breakfast. Nicola and Andy told be to expect something a little different during the first dance but you'll have to watch the video slide show until the end. Take care and I can't wait to hear about the honeymoon. Dave and Leah’s wedding Photobooth

Dave and Leah's wedding Photobooth Yesterday I was capturing David and Leah's wedding and as part of that we also ran the photo booth for the evening entertainment. My assistant (Eydth) and I had a great time at the wedding and we managed to get some fantastic images. The weather was super hot and sunny. Normally I'm shooting weddings all over Devon and Cornwall. I haven't had a local wedding for quite some time. So it was really nice to shoot one only a few miles from home. We even went into a reed bed to get some images as the sun started to fade on the beautiful teign estuary. But that'll be a subject of another blog post. Which I must get round to catching up with as I've got quite a few weddings to share for inspiration. David and Leah had also booked the fabulous "Loose Cannons" band to play. They were great as usual! All the rest are on the  facebook “Red Chilli Photography” page. So head over and like the business page and see if you can find your images from the wedding photo booth. Mike and Tina’s Wedding Bovey Tracey

Mike and Tina's Wedding Bovey Tracey

Mike and Tina's Wedding Bovey Tracey. When Mike and Tina got into contact to find out if I was available to cover their wedding in Bovey Tracey, they came over to my home to meet me and look through albums.  We chatted about the wedding, and got on well. I knew we’d have fun on the wedding day. Mike and Tina wanted a small low key and personal wedding at Tina’s parent’s house in Bovey Tracey.  They were getting married in the local church, which we walked to. Then home to the marquee in the garden for the reception and evening entertainments. They only invited a small group of family members, no speeches, just good food, good friends and dancing. It sounded pretty good to me. 🙂 Mike was concerned his best man wouldn’t get back from work that morning, if the traffic was a problem. But he made it with loads of time to spare. It was also my son’s first day at school, so I didn’t want to miss taking him to see his friends. Fortunately the wedding was only at Bovey Tracey, about 20 minutes away from home. The girls weren’t going to start getting ready until about 10:00, so I had arranged with Tina to come straight there after seeing my son into school. When I got there one of the first questions Tina asked was how he had got on and I showed her a few of the images on the back of the camera of him in his school uniform. So it was a big day for everybody! I know I’m there to shoot the wedding, but they were so welcoming it makes you feel like you are part of the family. Tina got ready in her childhood bedroom in the house where she grew up, full of family memories, and old childhood photographs. Mike and Tina had been together for a number of years before deciding to getting married.  They couldn’t wait to get away on honeymoon over to Egypt and they have told me they had a fantastic time when we spoke after they got back. It was a pleasure to capture your story. 🙂 Take care, James As usual I’ve included a small selection of images from Mike and Tina’s wedding, Please feel free to share this link on social networks and to leave a comment below..

David and Andrea’s wedding at Kentisbeare Church Near Tiverton

David and Andrea's wedding at Kentisbeare Church Near Tiverton.

David and Andrea's wedding at Kentisbeare Church Near Tiverton. Back in September I was at Kentisbeare Church for David and Andrea’s wedding near Tiverton. We got there nice and early to capture the preparations with Eve Ashby Makeup. David and Andrea were a wonderful couple to work with and I really enjoyed photographing their wedding. The reception was held on Andrea’s parents farm in a marquee. Andrea had metres of handmade bunting to decorate the interior of the marquee which looked fabulous. They possibly had the most relaxed catering team I think I have ever seen at a wedding, perfectly executed food and all the guests had a fantastic time. The weather was also kind to them, although I believe there were tractors on standby to rescue any stuck cars! I liked the bit about strictly come dancing in the speech Please watch the video below and hear for yourself.     Thank you for letting me be part of your wedding day.  Please have a look through a small selection of the images below and feel free to leave a comment. Surprise wedding photo booth

Surprise wedding photo booth.

Last night we were over in Chardstock near Axminster in East Devon, for a surprise wedding photo booth. Ann-Marie’s brothers and Sisters had clubbed together to get her the photo booth as a gift for the evening entertainment.  While we were looking after the photo booth they also had a live band playing they were awesome! I didn’t get chance to talk to the singer to find out their name, but I’ll talk to Hayley to find out and pop a link to them on here as I would definitely recommend them. The guests had a brilliant time and the photo booth shot over 490 images in two and a half hours. All the rest are on the  facebook “Red Chilli Photography” page. So head over and like the business page and see if you can find your images from their wedding photo booth.   Here is a small selection from last night’s photo booth, enjoy 🙂 and have a great Christmas.   Wedding Photo Booth AxminsterWedding Photo Booth Axminster   Don’t forget to tag yourself and please share on your profile. Muddifords Court Wedding

Muddifords Court Wedding

Aimee and Adams: Muddifords court wedding. In August I was at the wonderful Muddiford Court over in Willand, Devon for Adam and Aimee wedding. Again I’ve done something a little different for Adam and Aimee. I’ve included a short video of some of my favourite images from their wedding day. The weather was fantastic and everyone had a brilliant time. We had the photo booth running for the evening’s entertainment have a look at the photobooth images yourself. Dartmoor kitchen provided the catering and as usual they did an amazing job, I loved Tom's pies 🙂 It really is one of Devon’s hidden gems and I love working at Muddifords court. It has fantastic photographic opportunities and would recommend it. But I think from the images below you can see for yourselves just how good it is. I’ve blogged about Muddifords before in April when I first went there to shoot Adam and Aimee’s engagement. I am now only accepting a limited number of weddings for 2013 so if you wish to be one of my 2013 bride’s please don’t delay in getting in contact as I only have limited dates left. I would love to be a part of your wedding celebrations. Please watch the video and have a look through the images below.   Please have a look through a small selection of the images from Adam and Aimee's Muddifords Court wedding and please leave a comment. woolacombe bay hotel

Woolacombe bay hotel.

Woolacombe Bay Hotel is situated right in the centre of Woolacombe on the North Devon coast with stunning views onto the beach and sea.  Set in 6 acres of private gardens it makes the perfect back drop for your wedding photography, but if you’re feeling a little more adventurous the beach is a short walk away. Where we will be able to spend a little time together capturing a few moments together as husband and wife away from your guests. I was at the hotel back in July. Which I'll blog later on this week. The hotel is beautifully maintained dating back to 1800’s with an understated elegance. They have the facilities to provide a beautiful small intimate wedding through to the largest of weddings. The food is outstanding and created with the finest local produce.  The events team at the hotel are experienced and incredibly efficient making sure your wedding will follow perfectly. It really is situated in a stunning coastal location in North Devon. I would recommend woolacombe not only as a wedding venue, but it's well worth a visit with the family.   woolacombe bay hotel So if you are planning to hold your wedding or wedding reception in North Devon at woolacombe bay hotel, please get in contact to book your wedding photographer in Devon.

Hartnoll Hotel Wedding

Hartnoll Hotel Wedding,

I just wanted to share with you Louise and Angelos’ Hartnoll Hotel wedding. The wedding took place back in July this year, on what I am sure was the hottest day of the year. I was first contacted by Louise way back in April 2011. She had emailed me explaining that they were living in Morocco, but wanted to come back to Devon to get married. I didn’t get to meet them until the day before the wedding for some final planning. This was also my first visit to Hartnoll Hotel. After chatting for a while we realized that we used to live about half a mile away from each other back in Manchester, one of those funny coincidences. Hartnoll Hotel is a lovely boutique hotel, a perfect wedding venue. The staff are always incredibly friendly and professional. I can personally vouch for the food it was excellent, my assistant and I had the conservatory area to ourselves while we enjoyed the awesome roast beef. All of Angelos’ family and friends had travelled to Devon for the wedding and the hotel was fully booked out. It was the first time that a lot of them had been to Devon and they all seemed to have fallen in love with the area. Louise’s mum had handmade the wedding favours, delicious homemade Devon fudge in a range of flavours. But, most importantly for Louise, the chocolate wedding cake as chocolate is the one thing she misses about England! Because apparently you can’t get Cadbury’s dairy milk chocolate in Morocco. As usual please have a look through a small selection of the images from Louise and Angelos’ Hartnoll Hotel wedding and please leave a comment. If you are planning to hold your wedding at Hartnoll Hotel please get in contact to discuss availability. plymouth wedding photography

plymouth wedding photography in Smeatons tower

plymouth wedding photography in Smeatons tower. Jo and Mark’s wedding took place in the light house “Smeatons Tower” on the hoe in Plymouth. I didn’t meet Jo until the day before her wedding as it was the first time they would be back down in Plymouth before the wedding. We met at Smeatons tower on a very windy and wet summers day, where Jo was absolutely fearless walking out in the high winds at the top of the light house. I personally wasn’t too keen on going out to have a look. But I did (I’m not great with heights so no hot air balloon rides please) and we planned that if the weather cleared up we would go out on the top to take some couples shots with views over Plymouth, the Hoe and the sound. I can see why it’s a popular venue. On a clear day the views are stunning and something a little different from a traditional wedding venue. The only people who are allowed at the wedding ceremony are the bride and groom (I know obvious), the two registrars, the two witnesses’ and the photographer. We also managed to keep Jo and Marks little boy in his very smart suit in the top section. The rest of the wedding party have to go on the different levels of the light house. The morning of the wedding the weather was pouring with rain and when I arrived at Smeatons tower I didn’t think we would be able to get any pictures outside. But fortunately as soon as the groom Mark arrived the weather cleared. Jo and Mark were a great couple to work with. Thank you for letting me be part of your day. I do love an unusual wedding venue. Please have a look through a small selection of the images below and feel free to leave a comment. Enjoy.
